European Infrastructure for
Rydberg Quantum Computing

Foundation for Research and Technology

Founded 40 years ago, FORTH is one of the largest research centers in Greece with well-organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation of a top-level research organization. FORTH consists of ten institutes, among which the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) has been consistently evaluated as the best institute in Greece on physical sciences. IESL researchers conduct top-quality research in the fields of photonic and laser sciences, AMO physics, micro/nano-electronics and material sciences.

Role within EuRyQa

Within the EuRyQa project, the main role of the IESL-FORTH will be theoretical support of the experimental efforts of the partners: development of high-fidelity, multiqubit gates with long-range interacting Rydberg atoms, including detailed analysis of loss and decoherence, optimization of the atomic level configuration, interatomic interactions, and laser driving; simulations of quantum algorithms using hardware efficient multiqubit gates; design, benchmarking and optimization of error correcting codes using multiqubit gates; and simulations of dynamically reconfigurable Rydberg arrays to solve graph optimization problems for practical applications. The IESL-FORTH team will also organize EuRyQa Workshop on Crete in Fall of 2024.

Our vision for EuRyQa

The EuRyQa project brings together some of the best teams in Europe to advance the Rydberg quantum computers to a practically useful level, and the main role of our team will be theoretical support of the experimental efforts of the partners in realizing multiqubit quantum gates.
