EuRyQa consortium gathers for fourth progress meeting in Crete
On October 7th, 2024, the EuRyQa consortium gathered once again for an in-person progress meeting, this time in the picturesque city of Heraklion in Greece. The meeting, brought together representatives from all project partners to present their latest results, highlight recent achievements, and discuss future research directions toward building a European infrastructure for Rydberg-based quantum computing.
As the EuRyQa project reaches its midway point, the meeting served as an important milestone to assess the collective progress of the consortium. Over the past year and a half, the network has made significant strides in shaping the field of quantum computing, both in Europe and internationally.
This fourth EuRyQa progress meeting was uniquely embedded within the "Quantum Computation, Simulations, and Metrology with Long-Range Interacting Systems" workshop, hosted by FORTH and organized by Prof. David Petrosyan, with support from Prof. Guido Pupillo (University of Strasbourg) and Prof. Igor Lesanovsky (University of Tübingen). The workshop also featured participants from the QUSP ("Long-Range Interacting Quantum Spin Systems") community, offering a rare opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange between these two networks.
Each day of the workshop began with a keynote address, presenting cutting-edge research in the field of quantum information processing using neutral atoms. The invited speakers included Mark Saffman (University of Wisconsin-Madison and Infleqtion), Clément Sayrin (Sorbonne University), and Sebastian Hofferberth (University of Bonn). Their talks were followed by presentations from members of both EuRyQa and QUSP, covering a broad range of topics related to Rydberg atom physics.
Framed by the rich cultural heritage of Crete, the event offered a productive environment for meaningful exchanges of ideas, setting the foundation for future collaborations and the next stages of EuRyQa's development.
